Northern Alberta Urology Foundation

The Northern Alberta Urology Foundation is a not -for-profit registered Charitable Foundation  established in 1986 by the members of the Division of Urology of the University of Alberta, and continued by the members.

Its  purpose is  to  receive donations, grants or other funding to be utilized by members of the Division of Urology, or its designees, to promote and carry on research and education pertaining to urologic diseases.

Charitable donation tax receipts are issued.

  

All urologic disease entities are of interest. These include - but are not limited to:

              Prostate, bladder, kidney and testis cancer

              Prostatic hypertrophy

              Voiding dysfunction / incontinence

              Pediatric urologic diseases

              Erectile dysfunction

              Minimally invasive laparascopic  and robotic surgery

              Urinary stone disease

              Reconstructive pelvic and urethral surgery

 

Currently a number of  clinical databases continue to  be compiled and reported. They will no doubt be of significant importance in assessing and aiding the prediction of outcomes  of surgery  or other treatment modalities..


The works in progress are in the areas of:

              laparascopic / robotic prostatectomy versus open radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer

              radical cystectomy for invasive bladder cancer

              urethral reconstruction

              animal models  of  bladder fibrosis


Proposed:

              cryotherapy outcomes for prostate cancer

              urinary stone database and outcomes of lithotripsy

 

Resident and staff publications, presentations,  and awards , at a variety of national and international meetings have resulted from these activities.

 

Consideration of additional projects is ongoing.

  1. Giving a check to your Urologist office or AUI receptionist made out to Northern Alberta Urology Foundation. They will forward to the check to the foundation.
